Hi! Welcome to the School of Discipleship blog! You may get “lost” in all this new stuff, so here are a few pointers to help you get started.
The School of Discipleship is a one year life-changing opportunity for young people ages 18-27. As a student your walk with the Lord will be deepened through interacting with some of the most dedicated, missions-minded people in the country. You will attend classes taught by passionate leaders and have opportunities for personal, one-on-one evangelism. You will also have the opportunity to hear from Gospel for Asia guest speakers like Francis Chan, David Platt and Chuck Smith.
During the year you will take a two-week trip to Asia to see first hand how your part in the office is having an impact on eternity – thousands of children set free and saved from a life of bonded labor, clean drinking water provided to thousands who had none, lives once devastated by natural disaster, now receiving help and experiencing the love of Christ. And most importantly, you will see how thousands of national missionaries are bringing the love of Christ each day to millions who have never heard about Jesus! These are just a few of the many things that you, as a School of Discipleship Student, would get to be a part of.
Awesome times of Evangelism
Gospel For Asia guest speaker Francis Chan with the students
Now on the way to Jerusalem, Jesus was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. As he was entering a village, ten men with leprosy met him. They stood at a distance, raised their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” When he saw them he said, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went along, they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice. He fell with his face to the ground at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. (Now he was a Samaritan.) Then Jesus said, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Was no one found to turn back and give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to the man, “Get up and go your way. Your faith has made you well.”
This poem was inspired by our teaching times with Francis Chan and David Platt. Having them here was a good reminder that while God brought me here to reach the lost, it wasn’t because He needed me. God’s got it covered but He allows me to be here because He loves me.
Our God, He is full of glory
Why would I think that He needs to use me?
He’s awesome, powerful majestic and strong
I’m not here to help, just to tag along.
I serve because I love Him and He first loved me.
My goal? To share the Gospel. That’s why I’m here.
The School of Discipleship Students and Gospel For Asia Staff had an great time listening to Pastor Francis Chan (author of “Crazy Love” and Forgotten God”) share about God as our loving Father.
