Is Your White Board Clean or Marked Up?

About 18 months ago I was at church, and my pastor encouraged us to write down at least 3 things everyday for the next 30 days that we could praise the Lord for. I started, and got to about day 25, then lost my journal and quit. A few months ago, I decided to try it again, and it has been an amazing thing for me. It has also grown. I love hearing about what other people are praising God for, and started asking people randomly, “What are you praising Jesus for today.” My new desk has a white board, and one of the other students, who heard me ask that question all the time decided to just post the question. It has been an amazing blessing for people to come and share. Whenever I need encouragement, all I have to do is turn around and see what God is doing in the lives of the people here at Gospel For Asia.

*the KP quotes on the board are my roommate Katie P. in case you were wondering 🙂

Our Thankful List

In class yesterday, we were challenged to thank God in all things.

Here are a few things that we are thankful for:

– “The people God has put in my life.”

– “That God has plans and lessons tailored just for me
because He knows me intimately and loves me dearly.”

– “His plans for me; that they are ones for good and
not for evil, plans to give me a hope and a future.”

– “His love and that because of it I am not consumed
by my struggles.”

Katie

– “Holy Spirit Revelation and; Creativity”

Michael

– “God loves to answer prayer so much that He
woke me up, spoke to me about what to pray for
(something I was not even aware of) and then
answered it!”

Gwendolyn

– “That the LORD creates such uniqueness in each
of our relationships with Him. We are truly free in Him.”

Raliegh

– “I am not lost. I am following a light amidst darkness.
I am guided by the Lord and do not have to worry about
my future. I am KNOWN and LOVED by God who has all
power to create and destroy. He will bring me the best,
draw me near to Him and never let me go.”

Jolie

– “God loves me so much that He doesn’t
let me get away with my sins.”

Leah

Today’s Scripture – Palm Sunday Mark 11:1-11

Cross

The Triumphal Entry

Now as they approached Jerusalem, near Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go to the village ahead of you. As soon as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here soon.’” So they went and found a colt tied at a door, outside in the street, and untied it. Some people standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” They replied as Jesus had told them, and the bystanders let them go. Then they brought the colt to Jesus, threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it. Many spread their cloaks on the road and others spread branches they had cut in the fields. Both those who went ahead and those who followed kept shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!” Then Jesus entered Jerusalem and went to the temple. And after looking around at everything, he went out to Bethany with the twelve since it was already late.

1 Book 2 Books 3 Books More!

Here is a taste of how the Lord has used the books we read to change my heart over the last 7 months. Hope you enjoy them!

The Jesus Style: “Humility is simply seeing ourselves as we actually are, not higher or lower.”

The Calvary Road: “Perhaps someone annoyed me, and I was irritated. God wants me to see that it was not the thing that the person did that matters, but my reaction to it. If I had been broken, I would not have been irritated.”

Have a Mind to Suffer: “… being willing to suffer is not the same thing as suffering itself. It simply means that before God I have a desire of being willing to endure hardship, difficulty or trial for the Lord….Whoever has this mind may not in fact suffer, yet in his mind and heart he has committed himself to do so gladly for the Lord.”

Learning to Pray: “We are talking to a Father who is closer to us than our own thoughts. He is near, so near that no words can describe it.”

Before You Hit the Wall: “He [God] doesn’t want Christians to be carbon copies of each other, but unique expressions of Him.”

Touching Godliness Through Submission: “We cannot say we submit to God and at the same time, on the inside, live a life of insubordination and rebellion toward the authority God has placed over us.”

I Give You Everything Lord

I Give You Everything Lord

Jesus I love you, I say this from the depth of my soul,

It’s only to you I give my life and everything that seems to be a goal,

My life’s attainment in riches, glory, and fame,

Has all come to nothing, even at the mention of your name,

I’m sorry I have failed your mandates,

Make me someone worthy enough to be some type of Your  candidate,

I need and want to be more like you,

And if you must, give me the flu,

Just to hear you speak,

And tell me my heart sure does reek,

Tell me the state of my eternal life,

And if you must, tell it to me from something even as strife,

Just to pound hard your principles in me,

And make me not want to flee,

To follow hard after your heel,

And not just talk to you before every meal.

Make me to see things in your type of view,

Lord, Help me to seek YOU!!!
