Golb….what??

I was thinking as I sat at the front desk. And a thought came to me as a stared at the word B-L-O-G  It is  Golb backwards. So I googled “Golb” and this who I came up with first.

Norman Golb (born in Chicago, Illinoisin 1928) is the Ludwig Rosenberger Professor in Jewish History and Civilization at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago. He earned his PhD from Johns Hopkins University in 1954. He joined the faculty of the Hebrew Union College, Cincinnati in 1958 before settling at the University of Chicago, where he has worked since 1963. Golb has also been a visiting scholar at the University of Wisconsin (1957-58), Harvard University (1966), and Tel Aviv University (1969-70).

I had never heard of this guy. So I went on to the next thing

Golb is a piece of software which searches a directory recursively for mp3 and m3u files and creates an SQLite database out of the information found. This doesn’t seem to be usefull but it is! It’s for people that own a philips hdd0XX mp3 player (also called GoGear) because this one uses an SQLite database to save its songs.

What huh…..

So the moral is use your time more wisely than I.

Delusional

Webster defines “Delusional”

2 a : something that is falsely or delusively believed or propagated b : a persistent false psychotic belief regarding the self or persons or objects outside the self that is maintained despite indisputable evidence to the contrary; also : the abnormal state marked by such beliefs

The synonyms are elusion, illusion, hallucination, mirage mean something that is believed to be true or real but that is actually false or unreal. Delusion implies an inability to distinguish between what is real and what only seems to be real, often as the result of a disordered state of mind.

Why do I bring up being delusional? Well I was reading Francis Chan’s book “Crazy Love” and he talks about how the whole world is delusional because we believe this life is all about us. When since the beginning of time it has been all about GOD. I have honestly spent mostly all of my 21 years being delusional. Yes I have entertained the thought that the world only revolves because of God and not around me. Then again it is way more convieient and popular for it to revolve around me  I really like it that way.

When we think about being delusional we think of that crazy loon in the white jackets living in a padded room. But the thing is in our hearts and mind we take that jacket put it on, step in to that padded room and walk around like crazies saying “It’s all about me! It’s all about me! It’s all about me!” We look like fools I mean I am sitting here thinking about it and I all I can say is we are stupid.

The Noblest of Adventures

The other day I sat in my cubicle as I often do and I as I entered name ads I listened to “Home” by ‘Switchfoot’ .The video that went with it  had scenes from the movie ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian’. I watched that one scene where Lucy and Susan are crossing the street in London and I got this longing in my heart that always comes when I watch movies like Narnia or Lord of the Rings. Yes I am a sap … I can’t help it !

The longing I had was to be a part of something Great like Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter were-taking up armor and sword to go fight the great evil that threatens the lives of those in the land. It sounds Noble, Exciting, and Adventurous.

Then I realized something as I stared into the image on my computer screen-I AM!! Everyday I get to serve the CREATOR of life itself.

Even though our adventure doesn’t involve steel swords it  involves the Armor of God himself, and though there is not some Prince with a Spanish Accent fighting beside us- We have the Holy Spirit working in us. It truly is the Noblest  and most Exciting of Adventures.

Rejection

6/3/10

Tonight we will be going evangelizing. This is a scary thing for me. Talking to people I don’t know and feeling like I am going to be rejected at any moment is not fun.  However the Lord reminded me of a song a couple days ago. It is called ‘Our God is Greater’ by Chris Tomlin.

The bridge goes …

and if our God is for us
then who could ever stop us
and if our God is with us
then what could stand against…

It is from  Romans 8:31 which says

What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
They are merely men and He is God! What do I have to fear?
I am to live before an audience of one not many.
And the possibility of me getting rejected NOW is so much more worth the latter which is them being REJECTED in heaven b/c someone (me) wasn’t willing to share the Gospel with them.
So out I shall go with the Lord and His Spirit…in Boldness and love
if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us
and if our God is with us, then what could stand against… 🙂

Hello, hello…?!

I work out at front desk at the end of everyday. And that requires me to bring my headset from my office. Because this requires so many steps I sometimes forget to plug my headset in after getting to the front desk. On this particular afternoon that exact thing happened. Only this time I didn’t catch it before I answered the beckoning phone.

Gospel for Asia how may I help u……..Hello……hello??……….”

Silence.

Eventually I realized my headset was not plugged in and talked to the lady on the other end. After I finished talking with the lady, I laughed about the whole situation.
